Intro
"I’ve never really been sure why I left that night. But I’m always glad I did. The places I’ve seen and the people I’ve met, will never be forgotten. No matter how far I travel, that old hammer always brings me back. I can’t remember all the places I’ve been, but I know where I’m goin…back to the fire. The only place I really feel at home."

-- Charlie

That excerpt was taken from Charlie’s journal, which fortunately for us, has been handed down from a time almost forgotten. Inside tells the story of the son of a Blacksmith, who pounded out his family’s living right here in the Blue Ridge. Although Charlie was a very adept apprentice, and had a natural talent for the flames, he always felt that something else was calling him.

One full moon night, Charlie left his family with nothing but the clothes on his back, and his prize possession, his Blacksmith’s hammer. He began to travel the globe in search of a dream he couldn’t quite name. News of his father’s death brought Charlie back to the Blue Ridge, but this time he was not alone. It seems as if Charlie had made quite a few friends along the way. He swore on his father’s grave that he would take everything he learned while traveling the world and put it all in the flames. And with that fire burn out something big, something all his own… something everybody could be proud of. Charlie left all kinds of recipes in that old journal. Recipes for good times. Recipes for outrageous laughter. And above all, recipes for great eats! We are still cooking with the same principals Charlie lived by…

Great Food, Great Friends, and Great Fun!
